Light and Shade tutorial

Alien Skin Software - Eye Candy 6 -Chrome Effect and Perspective Shadow

Part 1. Create your background and text.

Ok, recently I did a demo at our meeting (well actually it was more than two months ago, but who is counting) about light and shade and establishing depth perception via design in Photoshop. Well, afterwards everyone said they would like to see that demo on the website, so here goes. Similar demo, different content, plus a couple of uses of my favorite plug-ins from Alien Skin Softwares: Eye Candy 6. Additionally, I will be doing this with CS5 as opposed to CS3.

1.       Create a standard PhotoShop sized canvas measuring 5 x 7.

2.       Double-click the Background layer to unlock and rename it.

!! - DMAGazine meeting - !!

Hey everyone,

Chris, Joe and I have been brainstorming ideas for the upcoming first issue of DMAGazine. We're already off to a great start and we have a few articles, content submissions, and possibly even some advertisers for this first issue. There's still a LOT of work to be done and since this is a community magazine, we could use YOUR help!

We'd like to get together one night in January to discuss our ideas for the magazine. Would there be a night we could meet sometime maybe next week, after 6pm?

Web Design Comedy

Here's a funny comic about web design... it made me LOL out loud.

Forum Idea (What do you think?)

OK last forum post of the day - I promise! I am one of the n00bz in this group so I still don't know much about the other members. I was thinking it might be neat to have a separate "Introductions" forum where members could go to post a quick message with some info about themselves, their interests, and maybe a link to their art/photography/designs or their website URL. It would also be a great way to build the community because we could welcome new members, ask questions, and maybe even encourage some networking and collaboration.

Replies for Chris... :)

Hey Chris... Don't worry, I couldn't figure out how to reply either! LOL... I did read your two posts though. Thank you SOOOOO much for volunteering to help with the magazine! Anything you would be willing to contribute would be great. I do web design as well, and I think it would be fantastic if we could have some web design content to feature in the magazine. If you have any projects you'd like to contribute, just let me know! (And if you know any fellow web designers who might be interested, that would be great, too!)

How do you reply??

I seem to be having the same problem Chris mentioned... I cannot figure out how to reply to existing threads without creating a new topic! Help?! LOL ;)

Member Design/Artwork

I think it'd be cool to see the work of other people in the group. I'll start it off by posting a draft website design i'm working on for a local homebrewer's club.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated...

DMAGazine ideas - part 2

I could not for the life of me figure out how to reply to a thread. So I made a new post...

I'd be interested in helping with the magazine. Brittany's post has a lot of good ideas. I'd be willing to do something like write a "Who Inspires Us" type piece, or help with the layout. I don't know if I have any submissions yet... most of my artwork is in the non-digital realm, other than web design.

**DMAGazine ideas - please reply!!**

Hey everyone,

I think a local digital arts magazine is just what the Central Kentucky design community needs! There is so much creativity flowing around here, and this would be a perfect way to recognize some of the individuals who are bringing their inspiration to the community!
