3D in Photoshop: The Ultimate Guide for Creative Professionals is a fantastic introduction to creating 3D images in Adobe Photoshop CS5. One of my favorite things about this book is the fact that it covers, in length, each feature of the 3D menu, describes the different materials and mesh features, how cameras and lights function, and gives many examples of each before even starting the first tutorial. There is a wealth of information here, especially for users who have never operated with 3D mechanics in Photoshop or other programs.
Adobe introduced 3D tools to photoshop in Creative Suite 3. Since then, each release has improved upon and included new 3D tools and features. In Photoshop CS5, Adobe introduced a new feature called Repousse, which is used to extrude objects in 3D in new ways. This book covers the Repousse feature in-depth. As a part of this review, I completed one of the Repousse tutorials, and will be sharing the beginning steps and the final product.

Illustrator revealed is a great instructional book for the novice to intermediate learner. It's full color throughout and well laid out with an unusual 9 1/8" by 7 3/8" aspect ratio. A CD of the project files are included with the book which you can use to follow along or you can create your own as you work your way through the book. As previously stated, this book is intended for the beginner, although an intermediate user would probably find merit in the book as well. I think a proficient user would need a more challenging experience and would not recommend this book to them. However, this book does cover the objectives necessary for Adobe Illustrator ACE Certification and a chart is included in the appendix to indicate where an objective is covered within the book.

The amount of information contained within the pages of this book is astounding. Real World Indesign CS4 is fourteen chapters of workspace, page layout, text, type, graphics, color, printing... the list goes on and on. The knowledge I have gleaned from this text fully encompasses lessons learned from the classroom and online. This book also covers scripting and XML, which I had very little knowledge in association with InDesign previously. I'm still trying to wrap my head around everything, but I am learning. Real World Adobe InDesign CS4 could be viewed in many ways, whether as a fully educational text, to a reference guide for techniques that may have slipped one's mind. The fact of the matter remains this book is an, if not the, definitive text on Adobe InDesign CS4. Buy this book, you will not regret it.

I am a beginner to Adobe Photoshop. In fact, my first introduction to Photoshop was on my first DMAG meeting I attended in February 2010. As a beginner I find just opening Photoshop to be intimidating and the few Photoshop books I do have to be an exhausting read that only further detours me from the learning process. That is not the case with this book! This book makes learning fun! The Photoshop Darkroom is an easy and fascinating read with amazing photo illustrations. I found the books layout to be informative, clever, creative and inspirational. The author gives step-by-step explanations, handwritten notes with additional guidance/reference and amazing photo illustrations of the editing process.

When I first picked up this book I thought it was going to be a typical book on editing photographs. I really wish the title gave a better clue as to what it's about, which is one thing: Digital Workflow. And for that subject it gives a very good introduction for anyone who is trying to figure out how Adobe's Bridge, Photoshop, Lightroom and Camera Raw products fit together smoothly.
The first section, Setup, leads the reader through the fundamentals of digital images, principles of color and color management. Also discussed is the basics computer and work environment configuration to have the best editing experience. Finally each of the tools is given a general introduction.

This is a very comprehensive book for photographers. It covers everything from the best ways to shoot images for digital editing, to the differences in diferent papers and printers, and eveything a photographer needs to know in between. As a designer, who often takes photographs for clients, this book provides some great insights about workflow and image taking for use in Photoshop CS4. I can't imagine a photographer not having this book. This is a great book and a must have reference guide for anyone that shoots digital images and uses Photoshop to adjust and print.

Review: Adobe Photoshop CS4: The Professional Portfolio
THIS BOOK IS THE GREATEST!!!
Against The Clock also has DreamWeaver CS4, InDesign CS4, Illustrator CS4 and Flash CS4. Illustrator and DreamWeaver were floating around last month's meeting and I wish I had grabbed both of them, but I guess one at a time is good enough.

Review: Adobe Illustrator CS4 How-Tos
"Adobe Illustrator CS4 How-Tos: 100 Essential Techniques" by David Karlins is an excellent resource for both new users to Illustrator as well as users who have been taking advantages of this application's powers for years. Without getting too advanced, the book does what it promises. It teaches the essentials of Adobe Illustrator.

Talk about your tricks of the trade for the newly upgraded Illustrator CS3 and Adobe Illustrator CS3: Classroom in a Book has ‘em covered. To be honest I am far from being a seasoned Illustrator user but this book gets you well on your way with an excellent and easy to understand task based learning style with exceptional supporting graphics and fun to do tutorials.
