Windows Vista EZMask has a very well-branded name. If you currently scratch your head in frustration whenever you try to create a mask around a detailed image (think: grass, fur or hair) you'll appreciate this software. After reading some of the help guides and finding one tutorial with instructions, I was able to get plenty of practice and slowly began to grow quite fond of my new little plug-in. (Just between you and me, when my trial was up I was even a little sad on the inside.) I'm not sure that it makes creating masks that much "easier" since it would probably take an intermediate user just as long to play around with Photoshop's actual masking tool or do a quick tutorial search on Google to figure out how to create the same effects. Those who are learning how to use masks should definitely read the help guides. From there, you are practically on your own - but you can mouse over any of the buttons within EZMask to get a description of what each button does. Your final effect is also easily previewed, and an Undo option is available to you in case you aren't happy with the result. Overall, this is a pretty solid piece of software, capable of creating some impressive effects. Advanced users will already know how to create many of these effects on their own (although mastering this plugin will certainly make it a lot easier). EZMask will be most useful to those who currently struggle with masking - although if you're new to Photoshop or masking, start by spending some time getting used to the software, learning what the buttons do, and reading through the tutorials. Then dive in and enjoy your new software! |
