Software Company:
Digieffects
Version:
V2
OS:
Vista Home Ultimate For this review we are going to take two plugin from Digieffect and see how they work seemlessly together to take modern video that you can take from any digital camera and age to mimic vintage 8mm film. I would like to thank Artbeats.com for the use of their footage. First we need to find a good video clip to use, I have one here of a typical beach scene with people having fun.
Now im going to apply the plugin Damage V2 go to overexpose and thats it, no tweeking of any of the setting, just drop it onto your video. This plugin will add haziness to your video, which really helps the aging process that were trying to go for.
And now go to agedfilm v2 and do the same, drag and drop, nothing to hard. This plugin adds a film grain to your video and makes the footage seem old. The effect is very realistic and when done right, you would be hard pressed to differentiate between a film aged with digieffects and one by age.
Now it looks good, but not great, so to tighten it up just add a blur to your film, which in this step you will need to tweek your settings, something you did not have to do with the digieffects plugins unless you want to. The stock settings are really good, and look great.
So there you have it, within 15 minutes or less with these two plugins you can age any video footage to resemble that of the any 1950's 8mm film. Aged film retails for $49.99, and damage v2 for $99.99, and for that you cannot beat the ease that these two plugins gives its users, and yes both plugins are 64Bit and CS5 ready out of the box. Finally more on damage, it had more than just over expose, it also contains 5 other great plugin; Artifact, Blockade, destabilize, interference, and skew. Im not going to get into those today, but i hope to get a chance to sit down more with them, from what ive seen so far of what damage can do, its well worth 99 dollars and more. |
