Review: Alienskin plug-in Bokeh

Bokeh is a third party plug-in from Alienskin that can be used in a number of different programs that include Photoshop CS3 and above, Fireworks CS4, Elements 6 and above (4 for Mac) and Corel Paint Shot Pro Photo X2 to allow users to create blurring effects on pictures that bring certain areas into focus.

 Now even though I said it only worked with the above programs, I used it on a subpar computer with 2 programs it was not supposed to work with.  I used Photoshop Elements 5.0 and Photo Impact Pro X. I quickly figured out the reason why you are not supposed to use this software with these programs.

I used this plug-in with a modicum of ease and produced some great looking pictures...however...the plug-in continued to lock up my computer.  Both programs.  I guess that is what I get for not having the necessary requirements to run this plug-in. 

I am a beginning photoshop user but I am very impressed with this plug-in. It is extremely easy to use and very user-friendly, much unlike Photoshop itself. It's is very easy to right away apply the efffect you would like.

My only complaint is that this program is not accessible or usable for photographers with older programs on older computers.  However, it is one of the easiest and most straight forward plug-ins that I have ever used.  I would say that this plug-in is a definite investment for any level Photographer and should be part of your arsenal.
