I’m old enough to remember the first Reese peanut butter cup candy commercials where two people, so involved in there tasty treats that they crash into one another. One eating chocolate and the other peanut butter right from the jar (odd but it could happen). Two great tastes that, taste great together!

That is the feeling that most of us that do video production or motion graphics have for After Effects and Photoshop by Adobe. Even with the ever growing library of books available on either of the programs few attempt to successfully join the two between the covers of one book. Jeff Foster has taken this task to heart in this well written and illustrated soft cover book. Mind you this is not a book for the weekend warrior or the novice this is a book for someone who already has a slight grasp on both programs.

Jeff takes you through a series of lessons (with all the materials needed in the attached DVD) to show how the programs work together. Technique for both video and film use are built in to the authors work as well as practical applications. There is even an in-depth series of chapters on matting/motion mattes. As with any good Adobe program there are many ways to get the same results, and Mr. Foster shows us quite a few.

In closing, I’m sure that it will enhance your library as both a great lesson path and a wonderful reference tool for the future. It’s found a spot in mine!
