The size of the book was a little intimidating for me at first but once I opened it up and started reading it, I realized that the size was definitely necessary to thoroughly cover the many subjects for PS CS4 and how it relates to photographers specifically. I found that as a photographer using Photoshop, this book is worth its weight in gold!

I loved that it covered the foundations that every photographer using PS CS4 should know but also went a step further to offer some great insight to efficient workflows.

At first, my favorite subject was the chapter on Camera Raw processing. Martin Evening covers everything in this chapter you can think of about Raw image editing in CS4 from basic panel controls and their effect to correcting problems in images. Then I reached the chapter on retouching and it became my new favorite. Finding a new favorite happened many times throughout this book for me. Just when I thought I had read the best chapter, I would find the next just as good. When I found the 2 hours of video tutorials on the CD included with the book, I knew this book was a unique find!

Martin Evening’s style of writing and the high quality color images and screen shots used throughout the book made some very technical and difficult subjects much easier to understand. The color coded organization of the chapters make it easy to quickly locate any subject. If you are a photographer using Photoshop, this book is a must-have resource!
