How to Cheat in Photoshop CS5 is an great book and I would recommend it to any experienced Photoshop user. The title “to cheat” refers to working smarter, faster and with more believable results. This is not a beginners how-to book, it is definitely for the intermediate to advanced Photoshop user and there is the assumption that the reader already has basic knowledge of Photoshop.

I began using Photoshop around version 5 and I think I know it pretty well. But Photoshop is wide and deep. To get the most out of it after you install Photoshop, it's wise to spend some time with the manual or a good book. The learning experience will take some time: days, weeks, months. Martin Evening's book will make the journey easier. He is a top notch photographer who has for years rubbed shoulders with Adobe's developers of Photoshop.

Review: Adobe Photoshop CS4: The Professional Portfolio

THIS BOOK IS THE GREATEST!!!

Against The Clock also has DreamWeaver CS4, InDesign CS4, Illustrator CS4 and Flash CS4.  Illustrator and DreamWeaver were floating around last month's meeting and I wish I had grabbed both of them, but I guess one at a time is good enough.

As a long time flash user it took me a while to get up to speed on having to relearn how Flash user ActionScript 3.0 for some previously simple functions such as button reactions and other methods in flash.

The book does a very good job providing examples for people new to ActionScript 3.0. As a designer I felt it did a great job getting me into figuring out how to write the new code required for things that used to be fairly easy, but now have changed a great deal.

Highly recommended for designers trying to 'get the job done'.

Review: Adobe Illustrator CS4 How-Tos

"Adobe Illustrator CS4 How-Tos: 100 Essential Techniques" by David Karlins is an excellent resource for both new users to Illustrator as well as users who have been taking advantages of this application's powers for years. Without getting too advanced, the book does what it promises. It teaches the essentials of Adobe Illustrator.
