My first experience with Eltima’s Flash Decompiler Trillix was one out of necessity but proves why every flash designer should have a copy. A client called requesting changes to a flash site I had created. The problem, which I didn’t tell the client, was the Flash files for the site crashed and burned when my laptop crashed. So I had 2 choices–build the site again from scratch....FOR FREE...or let Flash Decompiler work its magic. I chose the magic.
That was the nightmare situation that I hope you never experience, but here’s the cool/fun way to use Flash Decompiler Trillix. Like so many designers I have an inspiration folder of items that I’ve seen online. The bad thing before getting the decompiler was I had to take static screen shots of a flash site. Which is fine if you look at it a day or two later. But if you’re going through your folder six months later you may have no idea why you took that screen shot. With Flash Decompiler Trillix you can actually record the working flash site.
This brings me to one of the coolest things. Eltima makes a plug-in “Save Flash Movie” that works hand in hand with Flash Decompiler. You have a button in IE that allows you to save the current flash movie you’re looking at, save all the flash movies you’ve looked at during your session and it also has a button that will allow you to decompile the movie(s) straight out of “Save Flash Movie”.
Another handy feature that I’ve found very useful is the ability to extract/decompile exactly the elements you want/need. Elements that you can separate and decompile are images, sounds, texts, links, morphs, fonts, shapes, sprites, buttons and action scripts. You also have the ability to pick different formats of how you’d like the elements exported as. Cool uh?
One feature that blows my mind and is probably one of, if not, the most powerful feature is the SWF Editor gives you the ability to edit images, sounds, texts, links, colors and lines of your SWF file.. Then export it out and view the edited/updated SWF file.
I’m not really sure how to improve upon such a great product so all I can do is leave it up to the professionals to improve upon Eltima Flash Decompiler Trillix. I give Flash Decompiler Trillix 5 out of 5 stars.
