Just call it TiVo for the Internet audio. Replay A/V from Applian Technologies is one of those programs that you can only appreciate after you’ve tried all the so-called free Internet recording software.
The only way the interface could be any easier is if the program came with a dynamic digital assistant. It took me all of 15 minutes to install, open, set my recording preferences and start recording my first radio program.
There are too many features to name in a review but here’s some of the things I found useful; You could send the recorded program staright to iTunes. Keep or delete the original recording and a wide, wide range of choices when converting the recording. Media paks of categorized topics (politics, bbc and entertainment to name a few) that you can record separately or with a touch of a button record all the programs in an individual pak. One of the coolest/newest features is the ability to email the recording automatically (when finished) using YouSendIt.
When browsing the Media Paks I couldn’t find several programs I listen to. So I went to the stations center and searched for the programs. To my surprise they both popped up with several stations the program airs and the format the station streams the media. Beside each of the stations is 2 buttons. One to click for more information and the other button is to schedule the recording.
When you click the record this program button, your taken to a tabbed interface that automatically fills in the time the show airs. Then choose any other options that you want and click record. Its that simple!
Something that surprised me is Applian Technologies offers FREE live seminars that teach users how to get the most out of Replay A/V. They also offer “how to” artcles, a “what’s new” section and other related links on their newly redesigned website. The site is very user friendly, with links easy to find and use.
I’d like to see a wider, ever growing list of Media Paks, and I hope they’ll come out with a version for OSX.
The best $50.00 you’ll ever spend. Five out of five stars.
