Recent Tutorial I Completed

I just finished a tutorial on web design in photoshop using patterns as a key feature in the design.  In this tutorial I created three patterns and used some photos from my personal library as content for a basic portfolio site.

Eric Hoffman, who wrote the tutorial, showed me a lot of things I did not know about photoshop, but more importantly about design. You can make your artwork more appealing by using various patterns, gradients, and most importantly, opaque brush strokes to give a lot of visual interest to your viewers.

Alright, enough with the text, I'm sure you're wanting to see what I did. Oh, and you can follow the same tutorial here.

Class Project using Photoshop

I just finished on a class assignment to make a splash page for a mock website.  I'd like to know if you have any critiques!  Thanks!

I used masking for the background, stock capital photo, and free logos from the respective website.  In my pursuit for the mastery of the pen-tool, the C and D are made with the pen tool.  I found the best way to use the pen tool is to activate the grid in photoshop.  That also helped me with the typography.

Using the Pen Tool

After last night's session where the pen tool was used to create a mask on the project, i felt like I needed more practice with the tool.  Below are a few of the tutorials that I used to help hone my skill.

Also, I think I'll be typing my name and seeing if I can trace the pattern successfully.
